The position of Police Dispatcher serves as the first point-of-contact for callers and walk-in customers requesting service from the WPI Police Department and supports the overall mission of the WPI Police Department to provide a safe and secure living and learning environment for all members of and visitors to our community.JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities:Operate a multi-line telephone system. Direct calls to appropriate personnel providing information and resources as requested. Interpret emergency calls for service and initiate police fire and emergency medical response as needed to efficient professional and courteous interactions at the police service pertinent information concerning incidents on campus personnel matters and other police-related matters within the police daily log using IMC all aspects of emergency communication intrusion duress fire and card access alarms and direct personnel to Worcester Police radio and advise WPI police personnel of emergency calls occurring in the WPI peripheral property WPI Facilities and WPI SNAP radio logistical and operational support by:Preparing and submitting work orders to various campus partners. Receiving and relaying confidential LEAPS/CJIS/NCIC information to authorized Milestone video software dispatch emergency response and policy manuals located at the dispatch keys to authorized persons following prescribed required tasks related to the T-2 parking software statistical data reports to the Chief or designee when card access requests using Lenel in Campus-Safety-Authority (CSA) Clery confidential information all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor.Requirements:High School Diploma or GED required.2-year Associates Degree in Criminal Justice preferred.10 years of prior public safety dispatch experience is be dependable honest and possess highly efficient communication and interpersonal to exercise sound to multi-task while working in a stressful and fast-paced with access control and record management to work various shifts including days evenings nights weekends and to work overtime and call-in to work in various types of weather must be at least twenty-one years of age at the time of possess a valid Massachusetts operators possess or be willing to obtain First Responder and CPR pass a NCIC/LEAPS/CJIS provide three written letters of pass a criminal background pass on-the-job training during the probationary period.3 - Support 3FLSA STATUS
