BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme is the worlds largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies and using food assistance to build a pathway to peace stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict disasters and the impact of climate change.
WFPs Chief Financial Officer Division drives effective planning allocation and utilization of resources and oversees the corporate financial cycle from performance and financial planning through budgeting recording of accounting transactions and payments to financial and performance reporting.
As part of the CFO Division the CFOMD team analyze and transform complex financial and performance data to derive strategic insights drive financial risk management and strengthen high-level decision-making. Leveraging advanced digital tools and innovative methodologies the team aim to support strategic business outcomes and to enhance financial stewardship.
The Data Analyst Visualization Officer in close collaboration with other teams and divisions as well as field offices will be responsible for complex analytical activities in support of several business areas to transform business requirements into accessible and coherent data analysis and visualization products and assist in gathering and analysing business needs and supporting solution delivery.


ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the development testing implementation and maintenance of information system solutions and reports related to Country Portfolio Budgets in DOTS Tableau BO Excel etc.
Ensure alignment of reports and dashboard with the active corporate frameworks (e.g. Strategic Plan Corporate Results Framework)
Manage large data sets to make them usable and meaningful through a variety of visualization options that are universally and easily understood.
Assist Country and Global HQ teams in the development of reporting analysis and performance metrics which allow the business to align and track corporate goals and drive innovation insight and decision making.
Responsible for data mapping and validation in support of data warehouse development and data conversions; this also implies managing divisional data ontology quality checks and related tasks to ensure that corporate guidelines are being followed and that the right objects and definitions are being ingested into the new WFP data hub (DOTS).
Analyse data to identify trends and potential areas of concern for CFO managers and other relevant field and Global HQ focal points.

Coordinate data visualization training documentation and other educational tools and materials.
Contribute to the preparation of trainings on existing and new functionalities.
Interact with data teams and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and high-quality reporting and analytics and to provide inputs for corporate dashboards and reporting tools.
Supervise train and coach other team members within specific tasks as required.
Undertake additional tasks as required.


DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
CFO teams as well as field and global HQ staff are informed on available tools and reports under the responsibility of CFOMD.
System solutions to automate processes that help make data more accessible and improve day-to-day efficiency are designed developed tested and documented.
Analyses of large data sets generate useful conclusions and actionable recommendations for the business units and management.
Solutions are proposed designed and developed for a robust reporting/data visualization platform that combines the different reporting tools and software corporately available such as Business Objects Tableau and DOTS.
Findings from the analysis to turn information into something actionable through reports dashboards and/or presentations and emails are clearly documented and communicated.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


Education:
Advanced university degree in Computer Science Engineering or other relevant field or First University degree with additional years of related work experience or trainings/courses.


Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience.


Knowledge & Skills:
Advanced analytical skills for funds management supply chain and business analysis. Knowledge on the design and development of systems and applications needed to fulfil business requirements. Specialized knowledge to resolve issues arising during TEC support. Knowledge of TEC projects and analysis of business requirements. Knowledge of change management procedures activities and processes at HQ and in the field.


Languages:
Fluency (level C) in English. A second WFP official language is desirable.
