Summary:
Responsible for working with the Executive Director to oversee the administration of all HR functions to include benefits administration personnel services recruitment of personnel employee relations employment processes employee absence management system and all HR related information systems; provide HR consultative service to school and department leaders. Supervises HR Analysts and Administrative Assistant.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required. Degrees in human resources or business administration are preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an exempt level human resources position or 3 years of experience in a leadership role in human resources. School administration experience may be considered with demonstrated proficiency in HR.
- Diverse generalist HR experience in benefits administration employee relations recruitment employment policy and procedure development and HR information systems is required. Payroll experience is also desirable.
- Previous work with a school divisions human resources department is desirable.
- Working knowledge of employment and benefit laws at both the federal and state levels.
Exemplary writing skills. - Supervisory skills and personal characteristics to successfully work with all categories of employees and the public.
- HRIS data handling and reporting experience is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties:

The Assistant Director will work in a collaborative manner with the Executive Director to oversee all HR department responsibilities including but not limited to those listed below:
- Provides assistance to and advises administrators and supervisors concerning employee relations matters; conducts investigations and writes reports on findings. Serves as the Alternate Compliance Officer.
- Ensures the administration of all employee benefit plans (health and dental insurance retirement workers compensation Family Medical Leave Sick Leave Bank Cafeteria 125 etc.) is compliant with federal and state laws.
- Oversees recruitment retention and employment activities including Grow Your Own initiatives and pathways.
- Collaborates with Finance to ensure the accuracy and maintenance of position control.
- Works with the Supervisor of Recruitment and Retention to ensure we are in compliance with professional licensure requirements.
- Provides oversight to the substitute hiring process.
- Works with the Supervisor of Employee Services to ensure that evaluation cycles for all employees are completed in keeping with state guidelines and FCPS policy and completes audits.
- Oversees the selection of benefit program offerings.
- Completes data collections as required by the Virginia Department of Education.
- Identifies training needs and maintains oversight of the Vector training system. Plans and coordinates training as necessary.
- Supervises and gives leadership to new employee and substitute orientation programs.
- Conducts exit interviews.
- Supervises the imaging of employee archive files on the laserfiche system.
- Researches writes and revises personnel related policies and regulations as directed.
- Reviews and write job descriptions as needed and ensure that they are current and in compliance with federal and state laws.
- Works with the Executive Director on Personnel Committee meetings with the superintendent and the school board.
- Other duties may be assigned through the immediate supervisor.
Pay Rate:
The salary range is $91903 - 151339
Contract:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
