Summary: The University Financial Aid and Scholarship Services department is seeking a Programmer Analyst Intermediate to provide first-line technical support for financial aid systems including troubleshooting user issues and coordinating with internal IT (SIM) and vendor support when necessary.
Classification Summary:
Under general supervision the Financial Aid Systems Analyst provides technical and functional support for the Financial Aid Offices systems and applications with a primary focus on Ellucian Banner. The role ensures the optimal performance of financial aid systems through troubleshooting testing documentation and user support. This position collaborates with internal stakeholders to promote automation compliance and efficiency in financial aid processing and service delivery.
Classification Standard Duties:
Provide first-line technical support for financial aid systems including troubleshooting user issues and coordinating with internal IT (SIM) and vendor support when necessary.
Monitor and manage the Financial Aid Team Dynamics ticket system ensuring proper issue documentation assignment and resolution.
Assist in maintaining testing and troubleshooting the Banner Financial Aid module including system updates patches and process changes.
Participate in system configuration testing and implementation of new and existing queries reports and software functionalities.
Support efforts to improve system compliance automation and simplification of financial aid processes.
Assist in analyzing and evaluating proposed system changes or enhancements; prepare charts diagrams flowcharts and detailed specifications to support development and implementation.
Encode test debug and support operating programs and procedures in coordination with IT and user departments.
Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for reducing manual processes and enhancing service delivery through innovative system solutions.
Monitor data integrity across systems coordinate regular audits and perform data corrections as needed.
Develop and maintain user documentation and training materials; provide end-user training and support as required.
Record and track all technical issues documenting resolutions to build a historical knowledge base.
Conduct research to solve routine problems modifying existing systems or procedures when solutions follow established precedents.
Maintain compliance with FERPA federal/state regulations and institutional policies related to data use and student privacy.
Provide on-call support and problem resolution for system-related issues.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of programming practices relevant technologies and system software including SQL and/or object-oriented programming principles.
Required Education Experience Certification/License Equivalency
Required Education: Bachelors degree in a related field.
Required Experience: Three (3) years of experience directly related to the standard duties as outlined.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Bachelors Degree in Information Technology Computer Science Business or a related field.
At least 2 years of experience providing technical support preferably in higher education or a financial aid environment.
Experience with ERP systems such as Ellucian Banner or similar.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently within established procedures deadlines and priorities.

Special Requirements of the Position
Schedule may need to be adjusted with prior notice based on needs of the office. Limited travel flexible hours during peak times and occasional evening and weekend schedules.
