Job Summary:Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Ophthalmology Medical Receptionist to join their busy eye care practice. This role is based out of Hyannis with occasional travel to their office in Falmouth.Key Responsibilities:
Greet patients in a friendly and professional manner
Schedule reschedule and confirm appointments using the offices scheduling software
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations and referrals as needed
Collect co-pays and other payments at the time of service
Accurately input and update patient demographic and insurance information in the system
Prepare and maintain patient charts (paper and/or electronic)
Coordinate with ophthalmologists optometrists and technicians to ensure smooth patient flow
Maintain a clean and organized front desk and waiting area
Handle medical records requests in compliance with HIPAA regulations
Assist with billing questions or direct them to the appropriate department
Perform general administrative tasks such as filing faxing scanning and emailing
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical office training preferred
1 years of experience in a medical front desk role ideally in ophthalmology or optometry
Familiarity with medical terminology especially related to eye care
Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g. NextGen Epic Eyefinity) is a plus
Understanding of insurance plans and billing procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Professional appearance and demeanor
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g. files or office supplies)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm Salary: $20-$23/Hour based on experience JC
