JOB SUMMARY
The Drop-In Manager is responsible for the day-to-daymanagement of the Drop-In Centre and Clothing and Hygiene program ensuring thatavailable activities support personal well-being and recovery. The Managerprovides leadership support and training to the staff and ensures that atrauma-informed and culturally safe approach is used when working with thecommunity.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Drop-In Management
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that areempowering strength-based and aligned with the organizations strategic plan;
- Exemplify Siloams core values in all day-to-day activities;
- Ensure all staff are receiving the information provided bythe organizations executive team;
- Maintain Drop-In and Clothing Department operationsprocedures & ensure they are up-to-date and reviewed by the team;
- Incorporate a Housing-Focused approach and monitor theBehaviour Based approach;
- Involve community members in operational decisions whenpossible;
- Oversee Restorative Practices in theDrop-In and Clothing Department and mediate conflicts as needed;
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of staff and communitymembers;
- Coordinate Security and update Siloam Missions crisisresponse plan when necessary;
- Address staff and community concerns promptly andconfidentially;
- Act as an ambassador for Siloam Mission and establisheffective communication with all departments;
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationshipswith other departments and external partners;
Budget Management & Reporting
- Generate reports as requested;
- Effectively manage the budget of the department and assistin the annual budget process;
Staff Management & Development
- Assist in recruiting and training staff to support theteams development;
- Assess staff to develop their skills and abilities and provideopportunities for leadership roles.;
- Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs andgoals;
- Delegate responsibility and expect accountability andregular feedback;
- Facilitate staff meetings/debriefs and provide opportunitiesfor interaction with staff;
- Provide written records of staff issues and discuss themwith the Director of Services and Human Resources;
Volunteer Management & Training
- Provide appropriate training supervision and support forvolunteers;
- Develop a process to integrate volunteers into responsibleroles in programs and services whenever possible;
- Work with Volunteer Department to address any volunteerissues or concerns;
Health & Safety
- Assist staff in making decisions pertaining to safetymeasures in the Drop-In;
- Create opportunities through services and programs for thepromotion of physical mental emotional and spiritual health;
- Support and execute Health & Safety plans in theworkplace according to legal guidelines;
- Support and enforce policies to establish a culture ofHealth & Safety;
- Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes andrecommend solutions to issues improvement opportunities or new preventionmeasures;
- Monitor the condition of the Drop-In and Clothing Departmentand be aware of any damage to facilities or property owned request repairsand report issues directly to management;
- Ensures that staff report accidents or incidents to WCB(Workers Compensation Board) and assist in compensation claims if needed;
Communication & Confidential Information
- Maintain transparent communication. Appropriatelycommunicate organization information through department meetings one-on-onemeetings appropriate email and regular interpersonal communication;
Administrative
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by theimmediate Director;
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Post-secondary degree or diploma specializing in Social Workor equivalent work experience;
- Minimum 5 years experience in a non-profit sector;
- Minimum of 3 years in a managerial role;
- Certification in or demonstrated knowledge of CulturalAwareness Anti-Oppressive Practice NVCI ASIST First Aid Mental HealthFirst Aid Trauma Informed best practices;
- Experience in working with HIFIS4 Housing Plus databases isan asset;
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIORS
- Leadership and managerial skills;

- Ability to work with a diverse staffteam and promote inclusion;
- Good understandingof finance and accounting principles; Employee Relations and Health &Safety standards;
- Good understanding of colonization and its impact on Indigenouspeoples;

- Ability to communicate appropriate professional boundaries;
- Awareness of the issues surrounding poverty homelessnesssocial justice and reconciliation;
- Knowledge of Housing First Principles and housing resources;
- Knowledge of community resources for homelessness healthmental health and substance use
- Ability to work within a harm reduction framework;
- MS Office and data entry skills;
RELATIONSHIP
- Works closely with Drop-in Staff Clothing Shipping andReceiving Staff and Community Members Volunteers and various departments ofSiloam Mission.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Term ending 18 August 2026
- Office Environment;
- Work requiresstanding and walking for extended periods of time;
- May be required tolift up to 50 lbs. occasionally;
- Hazardousconditions could potentially include unpredictable or risky behaviours fromcommunity members;
- This position ispart of an on-call rotation;
WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY
The incumbent contributes to making the organization safe forstaff volunteers and community members and recognizes the importance ofreporting unsafe situations and participating in follow-up reviews as alearning opportunity.
- Provides a safe environment by ensuring adherence toWorkplace Safety and Health
- Regulations and Policies Infection Control GuidelinesWHMIS and Safe Work Procedures. Immediately investigates and recommendscorrective action on any unsafe acts work conditions incidents near misses injuriesor illnesses.
- Demonstrates understanding of role and responsibilities infire prevention and disaster preparedness and participates in safety and healthtraining programs including the facilitys Fire Disaster and Evacuation Plan.
- Supports an environment which avoids prevents and correctsall activities or actions which may result in an adverse outcome in thedelivery of services. Community Member safety is a standing item for allindividual and departmental meetings.
