Job Description

Position: Youth Recreation Program Staff (ages 14 to 17)

Department: Parks and Recreation

Wage Range: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour (depending upon job level and assignment)

Job Status: Temporary

Open Date: July 30 2025

Closing Date: Open until filled

General Purpose

To provide scorekeeping officiate and perform other duties as needed to operate specific recreation programs emphasizing participation instruction and skill development in womens mens youth and childrens sports and family recreation.

Essential Functions

Instruct umpire officiate and/or keep score for games; educate youth and parents about the rules; enforce rules and policy; ensure safety and security of recreation participants and facilities. Answer inquiries and provide information to the public.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 14 years of age before beginning employment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge of sport(s) to be officiated.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Supplemental Information

  • Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.
  • Necessary job and skills training will be made available if hired.

NOTE: Following a conditional offer of employment employees 18 years of age and older must successfully complete a pre-employment drug test and criminal history check.

Employees required to drive a motor vehicle as an essential job duty will be required to successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check following a conditional offer of employment.
