We are looking for a teacher who is committed to reaching all students raising achievement through a rigorous and relevant curriculum and supporting a school culture of excellence and joyful ideal candidate has experience with standards-based grading and is committed to raising student achievement through an integration of rigorous college preparatory classes with service to the community. The Art teacher will be responsible for the following in addition to other duties as assigned by their manager:Working with and for Students:Aligning curricular standards with state and AP guidelinesMonitoring student progress through standards-based assessmentsAnalyzing student dataDifferentiating instructionSupport plan and co-lead Service-Learning projectsAdvising students through daily Connections class (homeroom)Input academic and behavioral data on the school data management systemAnalyze student data and monitor student progress through standards-based assessmentsWorking with and for Families:Participate in Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences three times per yearCommunicate regularly with families about academic and social progressWorking with and for ColleaguesBuild and maintain strong school culture centered on student achievementWork collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the success of the school missionParticipate in weekly professional development sessionsParticipate in weekly grade level team meetingsInputting academic and behavioral data on the school data management systemWho You Are:You are a skilled educator. You have at least 1-3 years of experience teaching Art understand the importance of culturally responsive education. You are committed to standards-based teaching and work to build student-centered learning environments. You respond proactively and reactively to the academic and social-emotional needs of students in their classrooms. You have a proven track record of achieving academic success with a diverse student are values-aligned. You are passionate about Salem Academy Charter Schools mission and bring people together and build community. You recognize the assets and community cultural wealth of all students families and staff. You have experience fostering effective inclusion practices and a safe positive and respectful class and school culture. You are caring committed and collaborative with colleagues and :Belief in the mission and vision of the schoolRelentless commitment to raising the academic achievement of all studentsCommitment to standards-based teaching and learningAbility to provide a structured orderly safe and respectful environment for studentsExperience working with a diverse student bodyExperience teaching a wide variety of 2D and 3D art including drawing painting graphic design photography sculpture and ceramics. Experience writing an innovative arts curriculum with a focus on developing student voice and choice in the art to organize procedures and systems for materials and supplies within the art about integrating academics with service in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all studentsEagerness to be part of creating an innovative and rigorous middle and high school programPossession of Massachusetts Teacher Certification or successful completion of the MTELs associated with the in Art Education will be given to candidates that meet all of the requirements above and:Are multilingual including in Spanish and English; Experience teaching college prep or AP 2D Art and Design as well as assisting students in college portfolio designed and successfully implemented culturally responsive curriculum;Have similar life experiences as our students;Have a Masters PhD or EdD degree;Have National Board Certification;Excitement about integrating academics with service work;Interest in working collaboratively to improve instruction for all studentsSalem Academy Charter School values a school culture that celebrates learning and we believe that the adult culture in the school is the foundation of the schools success.
