What you will do forHarris County Precinct 4 (HCP4)
Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a skilled and motivated individual to lead the planning and execution of trail construction and anchor park development projects along designated greenways. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment for land clearing grading excavation and asphalt installation.

Work may be performed independently or as part of a collaborative team of equipment operators. Experience in construction management land surveying possession of a Class A CDL and the ability to read and interpret engineered plans are strong indicators of success in this role; however applicants do not need to possess all these qualifications to be considered.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are illustrative of the types of work performed. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Project Planning and Execution- Collaborate with the Operations Project Manager and Superintendent to define project scope.
- Estimate required resources including time equipment and materials.
- Develop detailed project schedules to allocate resources efficiently.
- Monitor project progress and adjust timelines or resources as needed to ensure successful completion.
- Conduct regular quality reviews with project teams to ensure work meets established standards.
Heavy Equipment Operation
- Safely and proficiently operate a range of heavy equipment including (but not limited to): dozers compactors excavators loaders graders asphalt laying machines rollers tractors and forestry mowers.
- Prepare and clear land in accordance with grading and site plans; interpret grade stakes and operate in medium-to-fine grade conditions.
- Level and excavate land surfaces using appropriate machinery.
Site Work and Material Handling
- Load and transport dirt debris and other materials from job sites using tandem dump trucks and trailers.
- Operate small engine and specialty equipment such as chainsaws ATVs cement mixers and jackhammers.
Emergency Response
- May be required to work before during or after an emergency or disaster as determined by departmental needs.

Requirements
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Experience:
- Five (5) years of hands-on heavy equipment operators experience.
- Experience operating a variety of equipment.
- Must have verifiable working experience with asphalt.
Licensure:
Valid Texas drivers license with a good driving record
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints is strongly preferred.
- Proficient in operating a variety of construction and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to safely drive a truck with a trailer.
- Solid understanding of general construction and handyman trades.
- Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments and tasks.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to read comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Well-organized with attention to detail.
- Demonstrates honesty reliability and a strong work ethic.

General Information
Position Type Salary and Typical Hours of Work:
Regular Full-time 40 hours per week
This may include weekends and holidays.
