Engineer (M2)/Project Engineer (M3) – Structures (Digital Engineering)

Full-time Permanent role that will be based in either our Bristol (Quayside) or Derby offices.

Element Digital Engineering is a leading provider of specialist engineering simulation design and consultancy support to clients across many industries including Nuclear Aerospace Energy and Defence in the UK and internationally. Our technical work covers everything from using experienced judgement simple hand calculations and static FEA through to detailed 3D dynamic and shock analyses. We are always mindful of the need to use the appropriate level of analysis fidelity and a suitable approach so that we produce practical solutions for our clients.
As a part of our team you will play a central role in providing our clients with: design support in-service assessments and verification services. Our clients also often require our structural analysis services to support failure investigations or technical safety assessments. As Digital Engineering is part of the global Element Materials Technology group our engineering consultancy services also support a range of Testing Inspection and Certification projects via Elements various laboratories.
We are looking to recruit an Engineer or Project Engineer with a strong consultancy mindset and demonstrable capability in a range of structural analysis topics. We are committed to the continued development of our in-house permanent staff capability. The position is based in our Bristol or Derby offices although hybrid and flexible working arrangements can be made available. This position would suit someone relatively early in their career who is looking to develop further as an engineering consultant or to rapidly advance their technical capability.

Carry-out a range of technical projects and analyses with some supervision from our more experienced staff in order to meet the clients needs and expectations.
Participate in technical delivery and client relationship management
Support business development activities with a range of new and existing clients
Integrate and engage with our positive team culture with adherence to Elements core values care integrity and progress.

Have experience delivering engineering analysis in an engineering company and/or engineering consultancy setting including managing projects or aspects of engineering projects.

A Bachelors degree (grade 2.1 or above) masters degree or PhD or in a relevant engineering science or applied mathematics discipline. Preferably with experience in the application of structural analysis from first principles or in accordance with relevant standards.
Have strong technical knowledge and experience in solving problems with FEA including defining an approach model setup post processing verification and validation. This should include statics dynamics and frequency domain. This would ideally be in at least two of aerospace nuclear renewable energy oil & gas or defence sectors
Have a working understanding of structural integrity topic areas such as fatigue creep and plasticity; as well as material behaviour.
Ideally have knowledge of widely used analysis tool including ANSYS Abaqus NASTRAN or Calculix with a demonstrable ability to extend their capability using user functions where necessary.
Some proficiency in the in the use of programming languages such as Python MATLAB VBA C# or C/C would be an advantage.
Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Are either already at or actively working toward Chartered Engineer (or equivalent) status.
