    About the Role

    Were seeking a GIS Team Lead for the ASA Geospatial Program to manage the delivery of data analysis and image processing tasks while nurturing the growth of a team of junior analysts.

    Were flexible on this being part-time (3 to 4 days per week).

    Reporting to and supported by the GIS Program Manager this role combines hands-on delivery with people leadership and project coordination.

    Youll support clients across Australia in industries such as transport utilities energy and urban infrastructure. Youll also help ASA uphold high standards of digital data quality and compliance (Client or Discipline Project-specific standards).

    As we are a community organisation it is vital that the role connects with our young team many who are new to these technical roles. The right candidate will invest in building a thriving culture where all viewpoints can be heard. You will be supported by management to work with young neurodiverse adults who are incredible!

    Key Accountabilities

    Team Leadership

    • Mentor and train junior analysts with lived experience of neurodivergence.
    • Foster a supportive inclusive and high-performing team culture.
    • Provide ongoing technical feedback and professional development.

    Technical Project Delivery

    • Ability to support drive and lead a project team
    • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with complex spatial datasets and workflows.
    • Maintain a key eye for detail ensuring the quality and accuracy of your own work and team meets client expectations.
    • Attend client meetings provide updates and communicate technical feedback.

    Project Coordination

    • Assign work and manage deliverables across multiple project streams.
    • Support analysts through blockers RFIs and technical ambiguity.
    • Track progress metrics and documentation for stakeholder reporting.

    What Were Looking For

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1-2 years experience working within spatial and geographic information systems (ArcGIS QGIS FME Google Earth Engine or MapInfo etc.)
    • Recognised subject matter expert with technical authority within your stream.
    • Demonstrated experience of working effectively with stakeholders at all levels driving projects and working for collective success.
    • Open to gaining Australian Defence security clearance

    • Excellent attention to detail and Quality Assurance mindset.
    • Capable of adapting to multiple project tools and workflows.
