Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Purchasing Officer is responsible for the efficient and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support aircraft maintenance and operational needs. This includes sourcing stock in accordance with established requirements obtaining necessary approvals for purchase orders and maintaining inventory levels in line with minimum and maximum thresholds. The role also involves managing the lifecycle of rotable components including repair exchange and return logistics.
The role may require you to be exposed to hazardous and noisy environments e.g. aircraft maintenance facilities airport tarmacs and aprons etc.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in aviation spare parts procurement or logistics Comprehensive understanding of aviation parts certification requirements (e.g. EASA Form 1 FAA 8130-3 CASA equivalent)
- Working knowledge of ATA Chapters and aircraft parts categorization
- Familiarity with rotable consumable and expendable part types and their life cycle management
- Experience using aviation inventory systems (e.g. Envision AMOS RAMCO SAP)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Outlook Word)
- High-level attention to detail particularly in data entry and documentation control
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective internal and external stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work independently manage priorities and solve procurement issues in a fast-paced environment
- Sound knowledge of international freight processes customs and import/export documentation
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate or Diploma in Procurement Supply Chain Management or Aviation Maintenance Logistics
- Experience in a CAR 30 or Part 145 environment
- Understanding of Just-In-Time (JIT) inventory principles and lean supply chain practices
- Previous experience in urgent AOG (Aircraft on Ground) parts procurement
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Source certified aircraft spare parts tools and consumables from approved vendors ensuring airworthiness traceability and regulatory compliance (e.g. CASA FAA EASA).
- Raise and process purchase orders in line with requisitioned needs budget constraints and supplier lead times.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels in accordance with minimum and maximum thresholds anticipating operational requirements.
- Coordinate the repair overhaul and exchange of rotable components including tracking core returns and maintaining accurate records.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery resolve discrepancies and negotiate improved pricing and lead times.
- Ensure correct documentation is obtained and maintained for all purchased parts (e.g. serviceable tags certificates of conformity Authorised Release documents).
- Maintain data integrity within the inventory management system (e.g. Envision) including accurate part number and serial number tracking.
- Support the Logistics Team Leader with the return and receipt of loan parts and components from vendors or other operators.
- Assist in audits and compliance checks related to procurement inventory and regulatory adherence.
