Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Veterans Services is seeking an Occupational and Career Pathway Specialist to support the Veterans Education Transition & Employment (VETE) department.
The position associated with this program is instrumental in helping V3 Employer Liaisons connect with businesses seeking skilled military talent while also establishing efficient occupational pathways and a structured referral system to fulfill recruitment and retention goals. It further supports the Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program which enables clinically trained personnel to transition into civilian healthcare roles. By championing progressive policy solutions transition pathways and waivers for occupational certifications the position works to eliminate barriers that contribute to unemployment and underemployment in military communities. It serves as a strategic conduit between Virginia employers and transitioning service members pursuing careers in high-demand industries by establishing pathways tailored to meet the skill demands of employers in a specific sector.
Minimum Qualifications
Development and review of certification requirements; to include probation status for non-compliance
Experience supporting industry-specific needs for various employment sectors.
Experience with data management and reporting.
Knowledge of administrative human resources principles.
Demonstrate knowledge of program management principles and practices.
Ability to manage multiple programs and/or projects simultaneously.
Demonstrate knowledge of website and database administration systems and application development and statistical analysis.
Prior experience providing training and instruction to adult learners.
Experience with identifying and/or providing services/resources to the military population.
Experience with career readiness and business services to support workforce development and retention.
Strategic planning and program implementation
Occupational pathway design and workforce alignment
Regulatory compliance interpretation and licensing compacts
Experience mapping and credential analysis
Policy research and legislative advocacy
Military occupational specialty (MOS) translation to civilian roles
Familiarity with professional licensure frameworks
Additional Considerations
Experience in workforce development business public administration human resources vocational training career coaching or combination of education and job experience. research public policy public administration business or related field or equivalent experience. Additional Considerations: Prior project management or leadership experience. Prior public speaking experience.
