The School of Nursing and Allied Health at Saint Josephs Universitys Lancaster campus invites applications for a nine month non tenure track faculty position to provide didactic clinical and/or laboratory instruction for undergraduate nursing students particularly in behavioral health and adult medical-surgical specialties. The educator will support all aspects of student learning and advising contribute to course development and curriculum review and revision and engage in continuous professional development to foster a supportive and dynamic learning environment. This position will include both clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitate learning experiences in various educational and healthcare settings including lectures clinical simulations laboratory skills small group discussions and direct patient care.
Provide instruction in behavioral health and medical-surgical nursing theory concepts and practices ensuring content aligns with current clinical guidelines and university standards.
Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback consistent with course requirements and university grading policies.
Prepare and deliver course materials assignments and assessments for nursing students at undergraduate levels.
Develop and manage course syllabi including course content learning objectives and instructional materials.
Coordinate course needs with the Nursing Program Director ensuring alignment with departmental goals and university policies.
Submit grades and report student learning outcomes in a timely manner per university policy.
Serve as a mentor and academic advisor to students providing support for their professional growth and academic success.
Participate in curriculum development and review ensuring the integration of evidence-based practices and the latest advancements in nursing education and medical-surgical care.
Collaborate with other faculty members and departments to foster an interdisciplinary approach to healthcare education.
Demonstrates service to the School of Nursing and Allied Health the University profession and/or community.
Demonstrates a commitment to scholarship through professional development which enhances teaching and learning.
Participates in faculty meetings within the School of Nursing and Allied Health.
Models professional values in support of the mission vision educational outcomes and strategic direction of the School of Nursing and Allied Health and the University.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:
Actively engage in professional development activities staying up-to-date with trends and best practices in nursing education particularly in medical-surgical nursing.
Support faculty colleagues in instructional and research activities.
Serves on School and University committees as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
A minimum of three years teaching experience in nursing with a focus on behavioral health and medical-surgical nursing.
Strong clinical background in behavioral health and medical-surgical nursing with expertise in patient care teaching and clinical evaluation.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
Exceptional interpersonal skills.
High level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
Preferred
Earned doctorate in Nursing or Education or evidence of significant progress toward doctoral degree completion.
Experience with simulation-based education and other innovative teaching strategies.
Certification in behavioral health and/or medical-surgical nursing or other relevant certifications.
Active involvement in professional nursing organizations and scholarly activities.
Education Certifications and Licensure Requirements:
Master of Science in Nursing
Current unencumbered Pennsylvania registered nurse license
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification preferred or willingness to complete certification within two years of employment.
