Summary
The Director of Medical Staff Recruitment and Onboarding leads strategic efforts to attract recruit and retain top-tier providers in alignment with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospitals mission and growth goals. As a key partner to executive and clinical leadership this role collaborates across departments - including the MFB Medical Group System Site Leaders Human Resources and Marketing - to ensure a seamless high-quality recruitment and onboarding experience that fosters long-term provider engagement and organizational success.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Strategic Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Develop and execute strategic recruitment strategies for physician APP and psychology roles.
- Administer all physician and APP recruitment efforts across the MFB System.
- Proactively source screen and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates particularly in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation psychology and advanced practice specialties.
- Partner with the CMO and VP of the MFB Medical Group to assess current and future workforce needs.
- Act as the primary liaison for candidates throughout the recruitment process ensuring a positive experience and timely follow-up.
Candidate Sourcing & Screening
- Post job openings on appropriate channels; manage relationships with job boards search firms and academic programs.
- Research and attend conferences job fairs and other recruitment opportunities to promote MFB.
- Develop and maintain relationships with PM&R residency and fellowship programs nationwide.
- Collaborate with Marketing to design compelling digital and print recruitment materials and campaigns.
- Assist with the development of promotional materials for recruitment events (e.g. banners posters).
Interview Coordination & Candidate Experience
- Schedule and coordinate on-site interviews travel arrangements tours and itineraries.
- Collaborate with system site-level recruiters to organize well-structured and meaningful candidate visits.
- Travel to System locations to assist with site visits and interviews as needed.
- Maintain regular candidate communication throughout the recruitment process.
Recruitment Tracking & Metrics
- Maintain an accurate candidate tracking database documenting all aspects of the recruitment process (e.g. position status interviews offer outcomes reasons for declinations).
- Track and report on key recruitment metrics to inform strategy and improve outcomes.
Onboarding & Integration
- Partner with MFB system leadership and site recruiters to develop and execute a structured onboarding plan for all new hires.
- Coordinate Mary Free Bedspecific onboarding elements including IT setup orientation and lab coat distribution.
- Support credentialing processes in collaboration with System and MFB credentialing departments.
- Travel to System sites to support first-week onboarding and provide in-person assistance.
- Maintain weekly onboarding check-ins with new hires for the first 90 days to ensure a smooth transition.
Locum Tenens Recruitment & Support
- Assist with screening and onboarding of locum tenens providers in partnership with the VP of MFBMG and CMO.
- Coordinate credentialing and onboarding logistics for locum assignments across MFB and System sites.
- Provide onsite support during the locums first week to ensure a positive and effective start.
National Presence & Outreach
- Represent MFB at national and regional PM&R and medical conferences and events.
- Host the annual MFB Rehabilitation Cocktail Event at the AAPM&R National Conference.
- Partner with Marketing and HR to enhance MFBs online recruitment presence including job boards LinkedIn and the careers page.
- Promote MFB PM&R opportunities in partnership with PM&R residency programs across the country in alignment with MFBs own residency program.

Customer Service Responsibilities

Essential Job Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration Health Administration or relevant field required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in physician recruitment onboarding or healthcare talent acquisition with at least 2 years in a leadership or strategic role.
- Proven ability to build and sustain strong collaborative relationships with physicians healthcare executives and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated passion and energy for leading change initiatives and driving continuous improvement in recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Strong understanding of rehabilitation services healthcare operations and principles of physician engagement marketing and sales
- Exceptional written verbal and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while also thriving in a team-oriented environment to address challenges and implement effective solutions.
Preferred Job Qualifications
- Masters degree in relevant field preferred.
- Extensive experience in physician healthcare or agency recruiting.
