Job Description
IB (International Baccalaureate) teachers role extends beyond traditional teaching focusing on fostering holistic student development through inquiry-based learning critical thinking and the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes. They create a supportive inclusive learning environment mentor students and encourage them to become lifelong learners.
Key Responsibilities of an IB Teacher:
Curriculum Development and Delivery:
IB teachers design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the IB curriculum (PYP MYP or DP). They adapt their teaching to meet the diverse learning needs of students and incorporate inquiry-based learning strategies.
Creating a Positive Learning Environment:
IB teachers foster a classroom culture of mutual respect collaboration and student well-being. They promote student agency encouraging independent thinking problem-solving and self-management skills.
Mentorship and Pastoral Care:
IB teachers act as mentors providing guidance and support to students in both academic and personal matters. They help students navigate challenges and develop into well-rounded individuals.
Assessment and Feedback:
IB teachers assess student learning through various methods providing constructive feedback to promote continuous improvement. They maintain accurate records of student progress.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
IB teachers collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience. They engage in professional development to stay current with best practices and IB standards.
Fostering the IB Learner Profile:
IB teachers actively cultivate the IB Learner Profile attributes in their students such as being inquirers knowledgeable thinkers communicators principled open-minded caring risk-takers balanced and reflective.
Developing a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children. Employing a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children. Observing each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
