They utilize artistic and technical skills often employing computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop innovative and marketable textile designs. This involves researching trends collaborating with teams and ensuring the final product meets aesthetic and functional requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Creation:
Developing original patterns and designs for various types of fabrics (woven knitted printed) using sketching painting or CAD software.
Trend Research:
Staying informed about current and emerging trends in the textile industry including colors patterns and materials.
Material Selection:
Choosing appropriate fabrics colors and finishes for designs considering factors like durability texture and cost.
Collaboration:
Working closely with fashion designers product developers manufacturers and other team members to bring designs to life.
Technical Specifications:
Preparing detailed specifications color palettes and production instructions for manufacturers.
Quality Control:
Overseeing the production process to ensure designs are executed accurately and meet quality standards.
Client Communication:
Meeting with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and present design concepts.
Portfolio Development:
Maintaining a portfolio of completed designs and projects to showcase skills and experience.
Skills and Qualifications:
Creativity and Artistic Ability: Strong artistic and design skills including a keen eye for color pattern and texture.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with CAD software digital design tools and textile manufacturing processes.
Fashion and Design Knowledge: Understanding of current trends fashion cycles and design principles.
