Job Description
Job Responsibilities - Key Result Areas
- Leading and Managing NOC Teams:Directing and mentoring NOC engineers ensuring efficient team operations and performance.
- Network Monitoring and Surveillance:Proactively monitoring network elements identifying and resolving issues and escalating problems as needed.
- Incident Management:Coordinating incident response ensuring timely resolution of network issues and communicating with stakeholders.
- Troubleshooting and Resolution:Diagnosing and resolving complex network and system issues often escalated from lower-level engineers.
- Network Maintenance and Upgrades:Performing network maintenance tasks implementing upgrades and managing network configurations.
- Network Security:Implementing and enforcing network security measures to protect the network from threats.
- Documentation and Reporting:Creating and maintaining network documentation developing reports on NOC performance and analyzing incident trends.
- Collaboration:Working with other teams (engineering support) to ensure efficient network operations and incident resolution.
- Vendor Management:Managing relationships with vendors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Training and Development:Conducting training for NOC personnel to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of networking concepts protocols (e.g. TCP/IP routing protocols) network hardware (routers switches) and operating systems (Cisco IOS Juniper JUNOS).
- Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues using various troubleshooting tools and techniques.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
- Leadership and Mentoring: Ability to lead and mentor a team of NOC engineers.
- Incident Management: Experience in incident management processes including escalation and communication.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ability to create and maintain network documentation and generate reports on NOC performance.
- Scripting (desirable): Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python Perl) for automation and network management tasks.
- Security: Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Project Management: Ability to manage and contribute to network-related projects.
