GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Wildlife Communications & Conservation Outreach Manager to lead our statewide information education and outreach efforts. This position plays a critical role in advancing wildlife conservation and management by guiding public information campaigns shaping strategic messaging and overseeing programs that promote understanding and stewardship of Wyomings wildlife resources.

The Manager develops and implements media marketing and communications plans working closely with the Game and Fish Commission Governors Office and Directors Office to address critical management and high-priority initiatives affecting the Agency and the State. As a key member of the Departments Leadership Team this position helps shape agency/division policies and guide responses to emerging issues. The Manager supervises and provides leadership to several essential programs including Conservation Education Hunter Education Hunter/Angler Recruitment Retention and Reactivation; Publications; Video Production; Graphic Design; Human Dimensions; and Customer Outreach Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.


  • Serve on the Agencys Leadership Team addressing major priorities management particularly those impacting wildlife conservation and management.
  • Guide public information campaigns strategies and outreach efforts that advance wildlife management goals and build public support for conservation.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive media marketing and communications plans
  • Work closely with the Directors Office and the Governors Office to address wildlife conservation information and education initiatives
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of communication and outreach activities
  • Demonstrate outstanding oral written and interpersonal communication skills that keep clients partners and stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Directly supervise the Agencys Public Information Officer and a professional team overseeing critical programs such as Conservation and Hunter Education Recruitment and Retention Publications Video Production and Customer Outreach.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference will be given to applicants with leadership experience managing diverse teams and complex programs.
Preference may also be given to those with experience or training in wildlife management conservation education or direct work with wildlife agencies in addition to communications education or marketing.


KNOWLEDGE:




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:

Bachelors Degree (typically in Public Relations)

Experience:
3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Public Relations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Public Relations Supervisor

OR

Education & Experience Substitution:

6-8 years of progressive work experience (typically in Public Relations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Public Relations Supervisor
