Temporary/Permanent:Temporary Not to Exceed (NTE): September 30 2025 with the possibility of extension pending satisfactory performance and availability of funds.


This position is located within a Title III funded grant program Wailau Ola Pathway (WOP) in the Office of the Chancellor at the University of Hawaii West Oahu campus. Position serves as a key member of the project team who works collaboratively with other Division staff at UH West Oahu and at Windward Community College to improve transfer and on-time graduation rates of Native Hawaiian students from Windward CC so that they may directly matriculate into UH West Oahu online bachelors degree programs of the process of their matriculation Native Hawaiian students faculty and staff will advance their linguistic cultural historical political socio-emotional and spiritual knowledge and skills. Specific duties and responsibilities are described below.


Duties and Responsibilities (*Denotes Essential Functions):


  • *Under the supervision of the Project Director of WOP serve as the project coordinator responsible for administering and executing the WOP grant activities which include the development implementation management and evaluation of the grant goals and objectives.
  • *Create and develop a series of professional development knowledge well training and Native Hawaiian focused workshops for faculty staff and other campus stakeholders at the UH West Oahu and Windward CC.
  • *Coordinate with both UH West Oahu and Windward CC campus faculty and staff to establish a clear program outline for cohorted faculty and staff experiences for the academic year.
  • *Work with campus community Native Hawaiian agencies and community groups to promote grant activities and leverage support for ongoing grant activities and to ensure continual funding and program sustainability.
  • *Train supervise and manage a variety of positions to ensure grant objectives and project activities are met.
  • *Assist in the planning implementation and evaluation activities to support the development of Olelo Nohona and Ike Hawaii practices and usage by faculty and staff across the Windward CC and UH West Oahu campuses.
  • *Collect and record all data relevant to students faculty and staff to meet grant goals and provided initiatives.
  • *Define and collect data relevant to the achievement of grant goals and objectives; implement and supervise records management system for data record keeping; and create statistical narrative and fiscal reports and presentations as needed.
  • *Coordinate assessment and evaluation processes (e.g. pre/post formative/summative assessment data collection/analysis coordinate with evaluator to complete reporting processes) and identify areas for continuous improvement as noted by the grant indicators.
  • Assist the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Project Director with the preparation of grant proposals reports and timelines in accordance with grant requirements.
  • Assist with research and report preparations to meet procurement guidelines and compliance.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education Social Sciences Public Administration or related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for fiscal administration and Title III grant programming; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
  2. Considerable working knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of fiscal administration and Title III grant programming as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts principles and methodologies.
  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws rules regulations and theories and systems associated with fiscal administration and Title III grant programming.
  4. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective innovative and timely manner.
  5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
  7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software excel and adobe.
  8. For supervisory work demonstrated ability to lead subordinates manage work priorities and projects and manage employee relations.


Supplement Minimal Qualifications:


  1. Ability to work evenings and weekends on and off campus as needed.
  2. Demonstrated ability in data collection methods and analysis.
  3. Experience working with grant projects and implementing objectives and activities aligned to grant goals.
  4. Ability to work with a wide range of constituencies (students faculty staff parents administrators) with diplomacy tact and sensitivity within a multicultural setting.
  5. Demonstrated ability to apply spreadsheets and presentation software.
  6. Demonstrated experience in budget management and/or fiscal processing.
  7. Experience in working with various student populations that include at-risk socioeconomically disadvantaged Native Hawaiian and/or non-traditional students.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and staff at both community college and university levels.


Desirable Qualifications:


  1. Masters degree in Education Social Sciences Public Administration or related field.
  2. Knowledge of federal regulations pertaining to the administration of contracts and grants and the administrative service policies and procedures of UH and RCUH.
  3. Demonstrated ability to interpret state and federal regulations and mandates specifically as they apply to fiscal matters procurement grants and contracts to ensure compliance.
  4. Ability to communicate through olelo Hawaii.
  5. Experience with grant reporting mentoring students and planning student activities.
  6. Coursework in Hawaiian Studies or Hawaiian Language.
  7. Experience working with Native Hawaiian serving organizations.
  8. Knowledge of college admissions and financial aid procedures.
  9. Experience working with Native Hawaiian students in higher education.
