The Civil Engineering Manager is a discipline leader responsible for technical design to support proposals engineer of record review and operations support for a utility scale PV EPC contractor in the US. Their primary functions will be leading proposal level design efforts on a project level developing advancements as the subject SME and supervise a team. The Civil Engineering Manager will work closely with the Estimating Department Operations and Senior Renewables leadership to ensure designs are accurate within scope meet code and are within the corporations directive throughout all Renewables project locations.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Civil Structural Engineering Manager will support all civil related aspects of Renewables projects as required by federal state and local regulations during the proposal pre-construction construction and warranty phases of solar projects. Typical responsibilities include:
Lead engineers across civil/structural disciplines of all project participants to conceptualize and develop preliminary design documents in accordance with technical commercial and code compliance requirements.
Supervise small group comprised of both engineers and designers.
Establish civil structural engineering standards processes and automation systems to reduce time effort and cost during design process.
Work closely with Procurement to evaluate technology materials and alternatives that places Primoris in an industry leading position.
Work closely with Estimating team to capture all the scope of work design aspects and any specific requirements from clients.
Collaborates with the Clients to understand their engineering and design needs. Use this insight and data to lead the engineering group to conceptualize and design efficient and competitive PV systems.
Collaborate with Business Development to support and achieve business goals.
Work with supervisor to assign develop train mature mentor hire and manage personnel across projects throughout the program.
Establish and communicate project and program objectives and expectations to facilitate understanding across the participants.
Work with your peers in Business Development to create and maintain the discipline to safely deliver quality projects on time and within budget with certainty consistently.
Instill confidence in the team using good project management principles and practices including communication planning coordination collaboration control and reporting techniques that inform create efficiency and add value in a professional participatory manner.
Measure and reports progress as appropriate.
Check technical accuracy of work and oversee quality management system procedures for the work produced by the group.
Coordinate engineering activities of unit with other units or organizations.
Lead small number of projects as needed.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or equivalent) from an ABET accredited college.
Professional Engineering License Required
10 years of Engineering and/or construction experience preferred
Preference given for experience in Construction Solar BESS Renewable Energy or Power Generation.
In depth knowledge of federal state and local civil regulations.
Valid drivers license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
Role includes supporting multiple projects site locations with travel up to 15% of the time.
PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Interpersonal skills Ability to present information to a small group of employees or sub-contractors.
Effective communication skills (oral written listening presentation) to effectively work with subcontractors and employees
Computer literacy. This does not include knowledge of all software to be used but the ability to learn to use efficiently the software which is in use. Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook Visio).
Organization skills. Scheduling planning and prioritization.
Advanced construction drawing knowledge. Knowledge of drawing layouts references notes and good practices associated with producing and reading construction drawings.
Ability to follow safety rules without cutting corners. To understand the intent of safety rules not blindly adhering to the literal words of the rule
