Job Description

The Literacy Interventionist supports the school and students to align with the school communitys mission to teach students to be bilingual and bi-literate in Spanish and English thus ensuring students develop the skills and dispositions necessary for 21st-century success. The literacy intervention services will build students phonics spelling and reading comprehension capacity. The interventionist will provide and track the progress of targeted Tier 2 literacy intervention to accelerate the learning for designated groups of students.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe full-time Literacy Interventionist is responsible for the fulfillment of the essential duties set forth below:

1. Deliver Literacy Intervention to Whole Groups Targeted Small Groups of Students and 1:1

    • Create plan and deliver interactive engaging lessons to whole groups (15-25 students) small groups and 1:1 throughout the week using the ELA curriculum
    • Develop and deliver instruction using culturally and linguistically responsive strategies to create an engaging learning environment
    • Ensure activities and instruction are equally effective for students across all ethnicities language backgrounds and genders
    • Provide push-in support as needed to ensure alignment with classroom instruction

2. Administer Analyze and Document Progress Data for Identified Students

    • In collaboration with school-day teachers and Instructional Coach analyze student work in particular milestone tasks to monitor needs and successes
    • Use class and school assessment data to identify academic areas of strength and needed growth or support to devise plans for action for each individual student
    • Participate in Grade Level Team Coordinated Care Team and IEP meetings as appropriate

3. Professional Growth and Development

    • Actively collaborate with school-based Instructional Coach and classroom teachers especially around student academic progress
    • Seek guidance and collaborate with site administrative team Instructional Leadership Team and Coordinated Care Team
    • Present student updates and collaborate with teachers to determine strategies appropriate for the specific needs of selected students
    • Attend faculty meetings and participate in school-sponsored and identified district-level professional development activities

Desired Quallification

    • Strong literacy intervention background
    • At least two years of classroom teaching experience with demonstrated effectiveness in the subject matter use of standards-based curriculum instruction and assessment
    • Professional record of enriching students academics through highly engaging and effective instruction
    • Experience in teacher leadership role preferred (e.g. team leader grade level chairperson instructional coach)
    • Experience in working with diverse student populations; familiarity with providing effective accommodations or designing lessons that incorporate Universal Design for Learning principles
    • Cultural and linguistic competence both in relating to diverse students and families
    • Expertise in serving English learners and students with special needs
    • Facility with technology or other new media that will contribute to schools effective organization
    • Propensity for fostering a school culture of high expectations and confidence in student success
$28 - $32 an hour
