About the role

AEMOs WA Future System Design & Transformation group is responsible for planning the power system in the context of unprecedented transformation supporting AEMOs mission of designing a sustainable energy system that provides affordable safe and reliable energy for all Australians.

You will be responsible for supporting the long-term energy outlooks for Western Australias electricity and gas demand and supply namely the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) Electricity Statement of Opportunities (ESOO) and the WA Gas Statement of Opportunities (GSOO). These flagships reports support industry in planning for the transition to a reliable secure affordable and sustainable energy future.

This role is based in Perth Western Australia.

What you will be doing

  • Support the development of AEMOs annual flagship publications the WEM ESOO and the WA GSOO.
  • Collect and analyse data from teams internal to AEMO including WA System Engineering WA Operational Planning & Forecasting and WA Distributed Markets.
  • Collect and analyse data from parties external to AEMO including Western Power Synergy and other market participants.
  • Analyse and model energy demand and supply trends across electricity and gas systems.
  • Maintain and update documentation on SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Identify and execute on opportunities for improved alignment between the WEM ESOO and WA GSOO publications and AEMOs National Electricity Market ESOO and East Coast GSOO publications.

What you will bring to the role

  • Bachelors degree in a related discipline such as engineering science economics commerce or mathematics.
  • Familiarity with the WA Electricity and Gas sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python R and SQL will be highly regarded.
