The Library will be recruiting for two (2) full-time Librarian II positions to serve in the following divisions:

Childrens and Family Services and Outreach Services.

Candidate may be considered for one or both positions based on interests education and experience.

Youll be responsible for:

  • Working with the Library Services Manager to plan organize lead and supervise the day-to-day operations of the division.
  • Develop recommend and implement long-range goals objectives and policies relevant to the division.
  • Assist with strategic planning participating in the long-term planning and development of the divisions services.
  • Monitor and evaluate trends in library services technology early learning outreach services and within the community.
  • Set the tone for the team providing inspiration and direction. Cultivating and fostering a positive collaborative creative and productive work environment.
  • Hire train supervise and manage reporting team and volunteers.
  • Establish individual workplans workflow and establish priorities. Evaluate the work performance and quality of the team staff and volunteers.
  • Oversee training coaching and professional development of staff and volunteers reporting to you.
  • Assist with the management of the divisions budget resources and equipment orders. Ensure expenditures stay within allocations and that appropriate controls are in place policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Assist with data collection reports and evaluations of programs and services as needed.
  • Interact with patrons provide customer service readers advisory and reference services.
  • Act as the designated person in charge and ensure the adherence to the Librarys Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Serve as a liaison on behalf of your division at meetings appearances and events.
  • Other professional and organizational duties as needed.

Childrens and Family Services Librarian II will be responsible for:

  • Work collaboratively to develop and maintain the childrens materials collection.
  • Manage create and lead a variety of relevant educational programs for children of all ages such as storytimes reading programs tours and workshops.
  • Develop and maintain a welcoming pleasing environment for children and families including displays resources furnishings and utilization of space.

Outreach Services Librarian II will be responsible for:

  • Engage and build relationships with community organizations schools daycares and local partners to promote library services literacy initiatives and develop a greater understanding of community need.
  • Serve as a liaison on behalf of the library coordinating interactions and events with community agencies local schools and community organizations events and tours.
  • Develop conduct and supervise tours educational outreach programs and initiatives including Senate Bill SB 321 Student Success Card initiative 1000 Books Before Kindergarten and assist with large scale programs and special events.
  • Work collaboratively to develop and maintain collection materials and resources.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:
Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Masters degree in Library Science and two years of professional library experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work; advanced reference methods; techniques and procedures in cataloging indexing classifying and organizing library materials; principles and techniques used in bibliographic research. Ability to organize work and supervise the work of technical and office staff; communicate both orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals to promote library programs and meet patron needs; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequent standing and sitting. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds such as files stacks of paper reference and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; some reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength dexterity coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal frequently and for periods of one hour or more at a time.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Generally clean work environment with limited exposure to conditions such as dust fumes odors or noise. Work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
