Job Description

Summary

Position Summary
Responsible for managing the daily operations of Pulmonary Physiology Services (PPS) including supervision of all staff members and all work operations required for a safe and efficient delivery of quality diagnostic testing. Responsible and accountable to the leader of the department and to the Medical Directors for assuring that the PPS staff is trained appropriately and adequately equipped to produce high quality Pulmonary Physiology Testing in accordance with the standards set forth by American Thoracic Society (ATS) the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC) and College of American Pathologists (CAP). This position will be responsible for the staffing training and supervision of personnel.

Essential Duties

  1. Manages/supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication leadership guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits interviews selects hires trains orients mentors evaluates coaches counsels disciplines and rewards.
  2. Assures that Pulmonary Physiology Services consistently and continually run smoothly timely and effectively for all pulmonary diagnostic testing and procedures.
  3. Prepares staff schedules including identification of the appropriate number of personnel for daily activity and making any necessary adjustments in assignments and schedules for the daily activity level.
  4. Monitors the quality of all testing results produced in PPS and assures that ATS AARC and CAP standards are met or exceeded. Actively involved in departmental quality improvement and quality control.
  5. Serves as a role model in customer service for the department. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and good customer service skills with patients physicians and other healthcare providers.
  6. Troubleshoots for problems associated with patient techniques equipment scheduling conflicts physicians internal departments and outside vendors.
  7. Meets all compliance standards of the department and hospital to include: ATS CAP AARC and TJC. Maintains a thorough employee file for each staff member. Oversee the development and editing of policies and procedures to meet compliance standards.
  8. Proactively strives to meet hospital and departmental productivity goals by being actively involved in the financial and budgetary targets of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelors Degree preferred.
  2. Work Experience:A minimum of 4 years of recent and related supervisory and respiratory care experience preferred.
  3. Special Training Certification or Licensure: National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) or Certified Exercise Physiologist (CEP) through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). RRTs are required to have a current State of Colorado License to practice Respiratory Care as defined by required.

Salary Range: $89208.44 - $117978.17
