Job Summary

Chartwells Higher Ed is hiring an HR Generalist to support our operations and culinary teams on the campus of the University of Texas (Arlington and Dallas). In this leadership role your principal responsibility will be to support the Human Resources function in fulfilling both organizational goals and associate needs. The HR Generalist will assume primary accountability across several functional domains including employee relations recruitment and onboarding. You will lead compliance training personnel records management implementation of HR policies and procedures associate engagement initiatives and oversight of performance appraisals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure consistent application of all company HR-related policies.
  • Provide objective coaching to associates and management on complex issues offering guidance regarding disciplinary actions and assisting with on-site investigations as needed.
  • Design comprehensive onboarding programs and educate new hires on HR policies internal procedures and regulatory requirements aligned with operational objectives and academic schedules.
  • Manage and coordinate associate recognition initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
  • Organize and update both physical and digital employee files including documentation for benefits and attendance.
  • Prepare and evaluate HR activity and analysis reports.
  • Support the interpretation and feedback process for internal customer and associate engagement surveys.
  • Participate in departmental manager meetings to facilitate effective communication and team collaboration.
  • Deliver classroom trainings to frontline and salaried employees.
  • Review all compensation adjustment and status change requests to ensure equity and consistency within the organization.
  • Serve as a diversity advocate by leading assigned initiatives related to diversity recruiting retention and promotion.
  • Assist in developing Personal Development Plans for associates as appropriate.
  • Participate in the annual performance appraisal process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  • PHR or SHRM certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an HR generalist required; prior operations management experience especially in food service considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a large multi-unit organization is required.
  • Previous exposure to a centralized HR environment preferably in a corporate context.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint at an intermediate level; advanced skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to address inquiries and complaints from customers regulatory agencies or business community members.
  • Strong presentation abilities required.
  • Training certification (e.g. Zenger-Miller Stephen Covey) preferred.
