Job Description
The Division of Student Affairs at Texas Wesleyan University equips students with essential skills for their future the TXWES Esports & Gaming Department we do this by uniting with our students to transform their passions into workplace-ready skills in a supportive engagement-based community on the path to educational and personal success. The Video Editor is a student employee position supporting both TXWES Esports & Gaming and the Division of Student Affairs (DoSA). This role plays a vital part in telling the story of student life events and esports programming through engaging video content. The Video Editor will shoot and edit footage create dynamic promotional videos and help manage video content across platforms like YouTube Instagram and Twitch. This in-office role may occasionally require night or weekend availability for coverage of campus events. This role provides hands-on experience in video production digital storytelling and cross-platform content strategy. Youll build a real-world portfolio while developing skills in editing visual design team collaboration and creative addition to technical skills youll develop experience in managing deadlines working with stakeholders and adapting creative content to multiple audiences and platforms. Youll also gain experience in pre-production planning collaborative editing workflows and storytelling for diverse communities. This role is ideal for students pursuing careers in media marketing student affairs or entertainment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Shoot and edit high-quality video content including event highlights promotional pieces student spotlights tutorials and archival footage. Edit raw footage with attention to sound mixing color correction transitions and pacing to ensure polished final products. Assist with livestream editing highlight reels and recap videos for use on YouTube Instagram and Twitch. Ensure consistent branding messaging and production quality across all video content. Collaborate with student content teams the Social Media Coordinator and department staff to align video projects with broader goals. Assist with video coverage and on-site filming during campus events including esports tournaments student programming and cross-departmental initiatives. Collaborate with departments outside of Esports such as Student Life Career Services and Orientation on video projects that promote campus-wide initiatives. Contribute to creative planning sessions for upcoming campaigns recurring series or storytelling opportunities. Manage file storage asset organization and version control in shared drives. Stay current on trends in video editing online storytelling and digital production tools. Uphold university policies maintain confidentiality and comply with FERPA guidelines. Due to the constant changes to the working environment additional duties may be added or retracted from current job description at the time the need arises.
