Behavior Technician (BT)
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Behavior Technician (BT) you will use evidence-based therapy approaches following the guidelines of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) designed to help children develop the skills they need to increase independence across areas of development including functional communication skills social skills cognitive skills self-help skills and behavior management. Behavior Technicians will follow the teaching procedures outlined by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to teach and collect data on socially significant skills to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental or language delays.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct 1:1 therapy with clients under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
Adhere to a visual schedule which outlines work start and end times as well as designated periods for working with each 1:1 client
Utilize timekeeping system to accurately record time at the start and end of each shift as well as during lunch breaks
Utilize therapy techniques consistent with Applied Behavior Analysis by following the protocols outlined in the skill acquisition programming and behavior support plan for each client.
Collect and record objective data utilizing digital data collection platform during direct therapy sessions
Write accurate objective detailed session notes within direct therapy sessions
Complete other written records in accordance with program policies ( reports medication logs etc.)
Communicate professionally with team members supervisors and caregivers regarding client progress
Maintain a clean safe and organized work and therapy environment
Maintain client safety and confidentiality
Provide crisis intervention as needed following Safety Care strategies if trained
Contribute to a positive work environment
Work as a team to share responsibilities and duties including assisting in general administrative duties when not with clients as directed
Meet productivity/KPI goals and requirements
Make materials build toys conduct projects assigned by Lead BT BCBA or management team outside of direct therapy time

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
GED and background in childcare or direct care services.
Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients co-workers supervisors and community members.
Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA laws.
Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills professional development ethics and technology and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standard.
Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.
Must maintain a professional appearance with regard to clothing grooming hair and make up.
Requirements:
Basic & Physical Requirements for a Behavior Technician:
Be able to lift and carry objects and/or clients up to 30 pounds.
Be able to maintain appropriate proximity to clients during therapy sessions by engaging in physical activities such as walking or running as needed to ensure safety..
Be able to demonstrate a readiness and capability to employ quick body movements as specified in the Behavior Support Plan while interacting with children exhibiting challenging behavior.
Be able to take on and sustain various positions appropriate for interacting with young children for extended periods of time including sitting standing bending crouching and kneeling.
Be able to engage in play and teaching activities on the floor.
Be able to attend to basic needs of clients including diapering/toileting dressing and feeding.
Collect data and document sessions utilizing a tablet or other electronic devices provided by the organization.
Read and comprehend written communication through computer electronic devices and paper means.
Be able to assemble clean and maintain therapy space including toys and furniture
Productivity Standard: 92% billable time or about 7.4 hours in an 8 hour day.
