Title: Research Compliance Coordinator

Job Description
Reporting directly to the Director of Sponsored Programs the Research Compliance Coordinator (RCC) will play a critical role in the research administration function of Radford University and will provide coordination of the IRB IACUC Export Control Conflict of Interest and Research Integrity programs at Radford University. The RCC provides and documents federally-mandated reviews and research compliance training to faculty/staff/students relating to human and animal subject research; manages the universitys research compliance software; prepares the universitys federally mandated research facilities reports; reviews and advises on issues pertaining to Export Control compliance as well as other federally regulated areas; works with the universitys Research Integrity Officer (RIO) on research misconduct allegations and submits reports as required by the federal agency; works with the Office of Sponsored Programs on reporting and mitigating conflicts pertaining to the federally mandated Financial Conflicts of Interest policy; and schedules meetings/activities associated with compliance committee function/operations among other related duties. The RCC will apply knowledge of ethics regulatory research compliance and related administrative processes pertaining to human subjects and non-human vertebrates as described in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) to ensure institutional compliance with applicable federal laws regulations and policies (e.g. Title 45 Code of Federal Regulations Part 46 Protection of Human Subjects; The Belmont Report; the Common Rule; NIH Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP) regulations/policies; Animal Welfare Regulations contained in 9 CFR Parts 1 2 and 3; Public Health Service Policy on Human Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. The RCM will have frequent and varied contacts inside and outside of the organization as required to establish metrics for program success (e.g. developing policies and procedures coordinating service delivery promoting program goals and objectives outreach and training in addition to providing technical advice).
Required Qualifications
Graduate Degree with research and/or research administration experience preferably in a scientific field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with the IRB or IACUC in an administrative or researcher role;
Strong analytical skills are essential for identifying ethical issues and interpreting regulatory documents; must be able to apply such skills to formulate procedures which are consistent with ethical guidelines and federal state and local laws;
Experience using the IRBManager software for protocol submissions
