Job Description

Job Goal:The role of the Instructional Leadership Team Member is to work under the school Principals and Associate Principals direction. Help identify and implement a school wide instructional focus and to provide classroom level support for school improvement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Teachers serving with Professional Status in the Somerville Public Schools is preferred;
  • Strong people skills; an ability to win the respect and trust of fellow teachers;
  • Must be a licensed teacher by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Responsibilities:

Within this general goal members of the Instructional Leadership Team will have the following more specific responsibilities:

  • Work with school administration and other team members to determine school improvement needs at the school - (professional development student support etc.)
  • Work together to identify and implement a school-wide instructional focus and to monitor progress on the plan.
  • Support professional development efforts at the school.
  • Facilitate small group work at Teacher Team and grade level meetings during contractual professional development time.
  • Represent school and grade level colleagues at the ILT meetings.
  • Work collaboratively to ensure high quality professional development and collaboration time across grade levels and departments.
  • Learn (through formal training self-study reflection discussion and dialogue) about the improvement process and what works to make good schools better.
  • Work with the school principal and other ILT members to support a positive culture at the school.

Stipend: $1600
