POSITION SUMMARY
Performs responsible human support and paraprofessional work assisting classroom teachers or other certificated staff in helping students achieve instructional objectives and established goals in the areas of reading and/or mathematics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists the classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional objectives.
Provides practice activities and repetitions in reading and/or math as developed by classroom and/or Title I teacher(s).
Assists with large and small group reading and/or math activities.
Guides independent study in reading and/or math as assigned by the teacher.
Reports and assists with student problems.
Supervises students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
Assists with student routines.
Maintains courteous professional and effective working relationships with all levels of employees.
Works the days and hours necessary to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks.
Performs related duties as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post- secondary institution or career technical facility or an Associates Degree or successful completion of the ParaPro assessment.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some experience in working with children.
