Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: Physical Education Teacher/ Health Teacher K-12REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and AdministratorsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Must hold valid Rhode Island Teachers certificates in Physical Education and Health or the ability to have obtained the endorsement in Adapted Physical Education from the Rhode Island Department of of teaching K through High :Provide direct Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education services to students. Present instruction and guidance in the area of Health Education a Physical Education program for identified students consistent with state Physical Education requirements and IEP goals and students to improve motor skills in order to develop a higher level of physical fitness and to promote lifetime leisure social and emotional skills of students through physical student needs through psychomotor assessment/evaluation to determine how the student can benefit from regular PE or Adapted and implement IEP goals and objectives based on evaluation results and utilize instructional methods and materials that are deemed appropriate for accomplishing stated goals and skills/activities to meet the needs of a student i.e. change equipment rules and time the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as responsible rules of classroom behavior and maintain order during the physical education class in a fair and just with administrators teachers and parents regarding student progress and/or in and conduct staff development data to monitor and evaluate PE programs in an on-going other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education and/or Site REQUIREMENTS:Must be or earn certification in CPI and must be able to restrain when safety is in questionMust be able to lift or hold 50-100lbsMust maintain CPR/First aid certification
