Your Litigation Experience Can Help Shape Colorados Infrastructure
Are you a seasoned litigator with a passion for impactful work Do you thrive in the high-stakes world of construction claims and contract disputes If so the Colorado Department of Law wants you on our team! Were seeking an exceptional attorney to join our litigation group in support of the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) a large and influential state agency.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As an Assistant Attorney General in our Transportation Unit youll engage in complex construction claims and contract litigation. Youll handle a wide range of disputes ranging in value up to the millions advise on public infrastructure development and shape legal strategies that affect communities across the state.
You will:
Represent CDOT in high-impact construction claims and contract litigation
Navigate condemnation and inverse condemnation claims
Handle procurement and administrative hearings
Engage in arbitrations mediations and settlement negotiations
Draft and negotiate key infrastructure contracts including P3s
Provide strategic counsel on legal risk rulemaking and legislation
Salary note:The Department of Law uses a wage progression compensation model. Although a salary range is listed salary will be set commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
Attorneys with less than 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney will be hired as an Assistant Attorney General I (AAG I). Effective July 1 2025 the salary range for an AAG I is $88197-$117964/annually.
Attorneys with more than 3 years of experience practicing as an attorney may be hired as an Assistant Attorney General II (AAG II). Effective July 1 2025 the AAG II salary range is $102099 - $136558/annually.
Salary will be paid on a biweekly basis.
