Job Description Summary
The Temporary Financial Operations and Analysis Assistant reports to the Director of Academic Financial Operations ( AFO ) is responsible for organizing reconciling and coordination of financial data and requests submitted to the Provosts Academic Financial Operations Office. This position works closely with Financial Services Budget Office Human Resources and other academic and non-academic departments in reviewing and resolving financial and budgetary matters.
Responsibilities
Assist with processing interdepartmental cost transfers by verifying entries submitting requests and confirming that transfers have posted to the general ledger correctly. Monitor and track Employee Requisition and Change Requests (ERCRs) identifying any missing information or discrepancies and routing them for processing. Enter faculty extra pay requests and part-time faculty second assignments into a tracking spreadsheet. Flag inconsistencies and route documentation for processing. Support reconciliation of entries with the general ledger. Review submitted travel course budgets for completeness and prepare documentation for supervisor review. Log related expenses and assist with reconciling data to the general ledger. Prepare and submit compensation budget transfer requests to support funding changes cost sharing and budget adjustments as directed. Perform assigned tasks related to month-end close including data entry and reconciliation support. Ad hoc projects as necessary. Other duties assigned.
Required Qualifications
Ability to collect and review data accurately identify patterns or issues and summarize findings in a clear and organized manner. Basic understanding of accounting principles including how accruals work in financial records. Capable of working with minimal supervision managing assigned tasks efficiently and meeting established deadlines. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize daily work effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including functions such as sorting filtering and basic formulas. Good communication skills to interact professionally with team members and other departments especially regarding financial or accounting-related questions. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
