Job Description

About the Role

The Lead Quality Inspector is responsible for overseeing inspection processes in a machine shop or manufacturing environment to ensure precision parts and components meet strict quality standards. This role involves applying advanced quality control techniques including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) utilizing precision measurement tools and maintaining detailed inspection documentation. It is ideal for candidates experienced in quality assurance manufacturing inspection and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of machined parts and components to verify compliance with quality standards and tolerances using precision measuring tools.

  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to assess product conformance to engineering designs.

  • Maintain accurate inspection records documentation and reports of non-conformances for corrective action.

  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues and implement solutions.

  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality assurance processes.

  • Manage inspection schedules and tasks independently while proactively identifying potential quality concerns.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a quality inspector in a machine shop or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge and practical application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers micrometers and height gauges.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings blueprints and engineering specifications.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification or formal training in quality inspection quality control or a related field.

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) methods and tools.

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and enhance quality assurance procedures.
