Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To provide students with a high-quality education in science using research-based instructional strategies that align with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The science teacher will create a positive and engaging classroom environment that supports student success in science content areas such as Biology Chemistry Physics and/or Environmental Systems depending on certification and campus needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university (required)

  • Valid Texas teaching certificate in Science 712 Life Science 712 Physical Science 612 or applicable subject area (required)

  • Demonstrated competency in science content and instructional strategies

  • Strong classroom management communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience in secondary classroom teaching (preferred)

Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Duties:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district curriculum and TEKS

  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and technology to meet the needs of diverse learners

  • Provide hands-on laboratory experiences that support inquiry-based learning

  • Prepare set up and safely manage science lab materials and equipment

  • Assess student progress through a variety of formal and informal assessments

  • Provide timely feedback and maintain accurate grading records

Classroom and Student Management:

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical social and emotional development of students

  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and campus policies

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents and guardians

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers instructional coaches and administration to improve student achievement

  • Participate in department meetings professional development and campus events

  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues students and parents

  • Uphold ethical and professional standards as defined by the Texas Education Agency and district policies
