You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailWorking as part of a team this position is responsible for serving the library patrons at the Circulation Desk and for a variety of tasks involving the processing inventory and withdrawal of library materials. The incumbent would also be responsible for all other Circulation functions as needed such as desk assistance processing reserves and other projects as assigned. This is a nine-month position full time position; working during the academic year (mid-August through mid-May).
Primary/Principal Responsibilities:
Provide efficient and courteous service to library patrons at the Circulation Desk by answering inquiries providing direction resolving issues and ensuring compliance with Library regulations.
Using the librarys Innovative Interfaces Sierra system perform all transactions related to the checking out of general and reserve books to authorized borrowers discharge returned books and maintain files of circulation records. Handle the charge out other library resources including laptops and group study rooms to authorized borrowers.
Organize the Reserve Collection at the beginning of each term. The tasks involve identifying and obtaining material requested by faculty either from the campus bookstore collection or items already owned by the library processing materials ordered from the bookstore and updating library catalog records.
Perform periodic inventories shelf reading shelving and other shelf maintenance tasks of the circulating book collection. Supervise student employees who may perform these tasks during their shifts as well.
Will work on other projects as assigned.
Assist in the training of part-time student assistants. The student assistants are trained on the organization of the circulating book collection and the routines involved in processing library materials loan transactions. Monitor student work to ensure quality and productivity.
