Under general supervision of licensed physicians and Ultrasound Supervisor performs and/or assists in performing ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Sets up adjusts and operates Ultrasound imaging equipment. Responds to patients needs as required. Maintains cleanliness of equipment and general working area stocking clinical supplies. Ensures proper operation of Ultrasound equipments. Provides guidance to medical students and residents. Provides care to patients of all ages in the form of diagnostic testing.
-Job requires a minimum level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through completion of an Associates Degree or equivalent NYS approved training program in Ultrasound Imaging technology. Registry with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) is preferred.
-A minimum of six months of prior work experience is desired in order to gain familiarity on the job with the administration of ultrasound be familiar with sonographic equipment such as Philips Siemens and GE.
-Good analytical skills necessary for handling of ultrasound patients during administration of diagnostic be able to appropriately assess the correct action to take during testing while being cognizant of patient wellbeing.
-Good interpersonal manner important during delivery of patient care in order to ensure harmonious provision of ultrasound examinations and testing.
-Work requires manual dexterity for use of sonographic equipment and instruments. Light lifting of clinical supplies may be required. Adequate physical strength required for positioning of patient and equipment during examinations.
