Job Title:Banquet Captain
Location:Private Golf & Country Club Bethesda MD
Job Type:Full-Time / Part-Time
Reports To:General Manager
Position Summary:
The Banquet Captain plays a key leadership role in executing exceptional private events at our prestigious member-focused golf and country club in Bethesda MD. This position ensures smooth banquet operations by supervising staff coordinating logistics and delivering outstanding member and guest service. The ideal candidate is polished proactive and thrives in a refined hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the setup execution and breakdown of banquet events including weddings private dinners corporate meetings golf tournaments and member functions.
- Supervise and train banquet servers and bartenders to ensure service excellence and adherence to club standards.
- Act as primary on-site contact for hosts and vendors during events; provide exceptional service and resolve issues professionally.
- Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely food and beverage service.
- Ensure all event spaces are clean organized and properly set to specifications prior to guest arrival.
- Maintain clear communication with the Director of Catering and other departments regarding event logistics and special requirements.
- Monitor event timelines and proactively adjust staffing or service strategies to stay on schedule.
- Uphold safety sanitation and appearance standards in all banquet operations.
- Maintain inventory of banquet equipment and supplies; report maintenance or replacement needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of banquet or event service experience preferably in a private club fine dining or luxury hospitality setting.
- Previous supervisory or captain experience strongly preferred.
- Professional appearance and demeanor with excellent communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of banquet service styles (plated buffet action stations etc.).
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Flexible schedule including evenings weekends and holidays as needed.
