JOB TITLE: Van Driver for Student Transportation
REPORTS TO: Transportation Manager
FTE: .6250 (5 hours per day)

GENERAL DUTIES SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility is to provide transportation for students to and from TTSD Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport Pre-K-12 students to school and other school-related events.
- Practice the laws regulations and proper driving procedures as contained in the Oregon Motor Vehicles Division Drivers Manual the Oregon Department of Education/Pupil Transportation Manual and the District Transportation Manual. ODE OAR and commercial drivers listed in title 49 CFR 391.41391.49.
- Understand and follow emergency procedures in a crisis situation to ensure the safety of the students (i.e. accidents road rage bus breakdowns earthquakes assaults).
- Keep timely clear legible records and factual reports to include daily pre-trip inspections.
- Develop a positive rapport with physically and emotionally handicapped students in the prescribed appropriate manner and maintain discipline of high needs students.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Be available to attend District sponsored training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
- Maintain personal vehicle insurance at all times in a level acceptable to the District. Must maintain an acceptable driving record as defined by the District and must be able to be insured by Districts vehicle insurance policy.
- Remain flexible when schedules traffic and emergency needs interrupt the regular flow of work.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff students parents and community.
- Learn and implement new laws governing traffic safety passenger loading and student discipline.
- Maintain confidentiality of information which may include but not be limited to students behavior health special needs program changes staff members.
- Hold or Obtain an Oregon Drivers License.
- Hold or obtain upon employment a valid Type 10 or greater ODE Certificate.
- Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent

EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Tigard-Tualatin School District 23J and Oregon School Employees Association Chapter 51.

A new employee shall be allowed up to (4) four years experience on the salary schedule based on actual years of experience on a job of like responsibilites and skills. The highest hourly rate for a new employee would be $22.67 per hour.
