We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Manager to spearhead the development of next generation sensors and embedded computers from concept to large scale production. The ideal candidate is excited about the robotic sensing and compute technologies and is passionate about delivering high quality hardware and embedded products in a hyper-growth environment where priorities could shift fast. You excel at leading developers driving operational excellence and have a track record of building strong engineering teams.

As a member of the leadership team you will make a huge impact on everything from our technology roadmap and product vision to the architecture of the products to the culture we build and to our customer experiences.

Key job responsibilities
- Hire and develop the best. Grow and develop a team of embedded software engineers and empower them to achieve their career goals.
- Guide the team to deliver high quality sensor and compute products to meet customer and business needs.
- Provide technical leadership by contributing to architecture and design discussions driving best practices and ensuring highest quality of the teams deliverables.
- Collaborate with cross functional partner teams such as hardware software testing and operations teams as well as third party suppliers.
- Drive the teams operational excellence through mechanisms and process improvement.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- 5 years of development experience within an embedded or robotic environment which must include direct hands-on experience of full software development cycle including design development build release manufacturing and deployment.

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers
- Experience with sensors including but not limited to camera stereo camera time-of-flight sensors Radar and Lidar.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
