The English Speech and Journalism Department invites applications for one English Instructor position startingFall 2025 for the 2025-2026 academic year. The primary responsibilities include administering courses delivering instruction designing and developing curriculum evaluating student assignments in accordance with departmental standards advising students and service to the college. Courses are taught in a traditional classroom setting hybrid and online. Classes are conducted on all TTC campuses and at local high schools; therefore travel is required. This position requires a masters degree in English OR a masters degree with 18 graduate semester hours in English at the 500 -level or higher. Experience teaching college-level composition literature and technical writing courses at a two-year open-access institution is highly preferred. The ability to work effectively in a diverse community is essential. Educational development experience (working with faculty and/or students on teaching & learning assessment) is desired. The successful candidate should be available to teach in the classroom online day and/or evening courses and at all locations as assigned. Excellence in teaching as demonstrated through effective instructional strategies and techniques in the classroom is required.
Normal teaching loads are 5-6 courses per semester in fall and spring and summer teaching assignments may be available. This position reports directly to the department head. Must be able to function in an environment characterized by continual changes in information technology.
