Job Description
As a member of the Mars Wrigley Scientific & Regulatory Affairs team the Regulatory Specialist for Europe plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with food and product-related laws and regulations for some of the best-known brands in the confectionery sector including Extra gum Snickers M&Ms and more. This position involves managing regulatory activities related to raw materials finished products product registration labeling claims packaging and regulatory database management. The specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable laws and internal processes within designated countries and areas of responsibility. Additionally the role involves proactively identifying potential regulatory issues and taking appropriate actions to mitigate or resolve them thereby fostering a positive scientific and regulatory environment aligned with our business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelors degree in a technical field such as nutrition food science biology chemistry or pharmacology.
Preferred Qualifications: A Masters degree in a technical field such as nutrition food science biology chemistry pharmacology or food law.
Experience: Experience working in regulatory affairs within the food industry is essential and experience with major brands is desirable.
Attention to detail is essential.
Strong understanding of regulatory requirements across Europe especially within the EU.
Ensure that ingredients formulas labeling and packaging comply fully with laws regulations and internal standards in assigned markets.
Guarantee that product claims meet all legal and regulatory requirements as well as internal standards in designated markets.
Proactively monitor regulatory developments and activities in assigned markets assess the current and anticipated regulatory status of new ingredients and food additives and ensure that SRA databases are current.
Participate in project teams anticipate regulatory issues and collaborate with legal counsel consultants suppliers trade associations and other external partners to clarify and resolve these issues.
Assist in the preparation and submission of documentation to regulatory agencies and other external bodies to substantiate and approve claims and gain approval for new ingredients.
Perform other regulatory-related assignments as needed.
