The Opportunity:
The Communication Coordinator is a member of theWSUTri-Cities Office of Marketing and Communication an in-house strategic and creative team that proactively brings the universities stories to a broad variety of audiences in support ofWSUTri-Cities mission.
This role provides communication support to theWSUTri-Cities Institute for Northwest Energy Futures (INEF) and theWSUTri-Cities office of Marketing and Communication (MarCom). Working with the team on the Tri-Cities campus and colleagues throughout theWSUSystem the Communication Coordinator works to promoteINEFandWSUTri-Cities activities and initiatives to a wide variety of audiences through press releases one-pagers and informational handouts e-newsletters and social media.

This is a full time (1.0% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary: $4386.85 - $6031.91 Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree in public relations communications marketing or other relevant fieldANDeither five (5) years of professional experience in print OR broadcast news media public relations marketing including the use of electronic media or five (5) years of other relevant professional experience.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel and Teams.
Demonstrated ability to write press releases news articles and content for websites and social media.
Knowledge of AP Style with an ability to follow editorial standards and apply university brand messaging.
Demonstrated ability to develop strategic marketing or communication plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience developing communications for aSTEMor energy related organization or similar audiences.
Proven ability to write interesting accessible content about complex topics for both non-technical and scientific-interested audiences.
Experience creating content for and managing social media accounts.
Experience working with members of the media.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of varying levels of responsibility and experience both orally and in writing.
Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time with varying timelines and priorities
