Deputy Team Leader

Altera Recruitment is working on behalf of a leading energy-from-waste facility in Wolverhampton to recruit a Deputy Team Leader to support the efficient safe and compliant operation of high-pressure boilers and steam turbine systems. This role is a fantastic step into a key leadership role within a modern process-critical power facility and offers a technical challenge team supervision and the chance to be hands-on in a highly regulated and rewarding environment.

What youll be doing::

  • Monitoring and optimising plant performance via DCS systems including turbines boilers and waste intake/output flows.
  • Supporting or leading shift operations to ensure continuous safe plant functionality.
  • Diagnosing and responding to alarms emissions levels and operational anomalies in real time.
  • Supervising and allocating tasks to operations staff including during planned and emergency scenarios.
  • Maintaining clear shift logs defect reporting and liaising with engineering and maintenance teams.

What youll need:

  • Proven experience with high-pressure boilers steam turbine systems or EfW/CHP process plants.
  • Strong supervisory or team leadership experience in a control room or shift environment.
  • Ability to interpret gauges alarms pressure/temp readings and DCS systems.
  • FLT licence (required); FLS experience or first aid qualifications (desirable).
  • Willingness to work at height in confined spaces and occasionally operate plant machinery.
