Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trainee Materials Testing Field Technicianto join our team. This is an entry-level position ideal for someone looking to begin a career in construction materials testing. You will be trained to carry out site tests on a variety of construction materials including concrete soils aggregates and asphalt.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the sampling and testing of materials on construction sites in accordance with UK and industry standards (e.g. BS EN BS 1377 BS 812).
- Perform on-site tests such as slump tests cube sampling and in-situ density testing.
- Deliver samples to the laboratory and assist with laboratory-based testing.
- Maintain accurate records complete test reports and ensure timely communication of results.
- Ensure all work is conducted in line with health & safety procedures and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain testing equipment and company vehicles (once trained and qualified).
- Work flexibly including early starts occasional weekends and travel to various sites.
Requirements:
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths English and Science.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain one upon appointment).
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous experience in construction materials testing or a related field.
- Knowledge of UKAS standards and testing procedures.
