This is a remote position.
We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team focused on crafting exceptional service environments for fast-growing multi-location retail and QSR brands. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in fabrication or cabinet shop engineering strong 3D CAD experience (especially in SolidWorks) and a keen eye for translating creative design into precise production-ready drawings. Youll collaborate across internal teams client services estimating production and creative to produce engineered drawings that bring bold design ideas to life.
Execute engineering submittal and production drawings for internal and client approvals.
Produce detailed fabrication drawings for custom retail fixtures displays and casework using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD tools.
Develop cut lists exploded views and fabrication notes for production teams and vendor partners.
Ensure drawings reflect efficient construction methods and align with internal cost targets and design intent.
Work cross-functionally with estimating production leads creative services and client service teams.
Participate in engineering kickoff and project closeout meetings.
Support the estimating team by providing material budgets and projected costs.
Partner with production leads to support smooth fabrication and issue resolution.
Operate within Katalyst s engineering standards to maintain quality accuracy and repeatability.
Enter and manage project labor and material budgets in the company ERP system.
Help identify opportunities to optimize drawing processes and production efficiency.
At least 3 years of engineering experience in a cabinet shop custom fabrication or furniture manufacturing setting.
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in 3D CAD (SolidWorks strongly preferred).
Deep understanding of retail fixture/casework construction methods and materials such as MDF acrylic solid surface sheet metal and laminate panels.
Proficiency in woodworking design and assembly (including CNC knowledge and tooling specs).
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Self-starter with a sense of urgency and a client-first mindset.
