About the role
1st Year Distribution Lineworker Apprentice Salary - $75705 per annum (plus Super) including a 9-day fortnight

TasNetworks are on the lookout for energetic individuals who enjoy working in a team environment to join our Apprenticeship Program. Commencing in February 2026 our 4-year apprenticeship program provides the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised trade qualification Certificate III in ESI Distribution Overhead (UET30621).
Learning from skilled and dedicated tradespeople you will be exposed to
- A combination of theory and hands-on learning delivered by TasNetworks own Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
- On-site field work at various job sites in the region (South North North-West)
- Inspection of overhead structures and electrical apparatus
- Locating and rectifying faults on the distribution network
- Installing and maintaining public lighting overhead conductors and cables
- Conducting low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) switching operations
TasNetworks are responsible for keeping the lights on across Tasmania and our field crews are committed to investigating and restoring power in times of extreme weather conditions including storms bushfires floods and snowfall.

About you
First and foremost you will be passionate about building your career whilst making a meaningful difference in your community.
To be eligible to participate in our Apprenticeship Program you must have the ability to work towards completion of the relevant trade Certificate adhere to healthsafety and environmental practices in the workplace possess strong communication skills and be able to build positive relationships with peers leaders and our customers.
You will need to be physically fit and able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and hold a current provisional drivers licence by commencement date in February 2026.
You will need tohave completed Year 12 and passed Maths English and preferably a Science subjectOR havecompleted pre-vocational studies in Certificate II in Electrotechnology (or equivalent) ORhave relevant work experience to be eligible.

Our Lineworker Apprenticeships are a 4-year commitment with a permanent role being offered within the region once you are a qualified tradesperson. This role is based out of our Cambridge depot.
