Duties: Develop optimization models to generate tactical and strategic long-term projections for forest products carbon and other ecosystem services for global assets under management and acquisitions. Query and perform quality assurance and quality control activities on variety of data sources including Land Resource Manager stand data harvest yield projections price forecast and budget and operating costs. Support a valuation analyses for dispositions using alternative scenario analysis. Automate the production of recurring reports by designing and developing dashboards from source data. Develop sensitivity analyses to measure timberland investment performance under various management scenarios and translate findings into actionable management insights for decision-makers. Develop review and maintain timberland financial models and identify key metrics driving model performance. Implement forest carbon stocks and emissions into harvest scheduling models for carbon accounting and carbon project development. Participate in carbon project development and the modeling of regional carbon baselines using remotely sensed data.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Masters degree in Sustainable Forest Management Forest Science Forest Modeling Ecosystem Modeling Forest Planning or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or as Valuations Forest Consult Forest Forecast Solutions Forest Engineer Forestry Analyst Planning and Inventory Analyst or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelors degree in Sustainable Forest Management Forest Science Forest Modeling Ecosystem Modeling Forest Planning or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as Valuations Forest Consult Forest Forecast Solutions Forest Engineer Forestry Analyst Planning and Inventory Analyst or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Developing reviewing and analyzing linear programming models including Cplex Lingo Lindo and Rstudio; Developing forestry optimization models using the Remsoft Woodstock platform; performing discounted cash flow financial modeling in Microsoft Excel; Designing and developing reports using Business Intelligence dashboards including at least one of the following: Tableau or PowerBI; Utilizing and analyzing geospatial data using ArcGIS; Querying and performing quality assurance and quality control activities for forestry data in SQL databases using SQL programming.
