The Raytheon team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to support the AN/TPY-2 missile defense program and the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software (SW) Department. The MDS SW mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream delivering high-frequency high-quality deployments to our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.
What You Will Do:
- Design develop and test software based on software trouble reports in an agile collaborative environment delivering build to site twice a year.
- Participate in agile execution and continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with systems and SI&T engineers to analyze implement and test system modification requests to the existing system baseline.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum of 5 years experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience with software development test and/or integration using C C or Ada
- Experience with Script languages (C shell Perl)
- Experience using debugging tools to quickly identify and fix software bugs as well as optimize code for performance
- Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience on XBR AN/TPY-2 COBRA DANE QEWR UEWR SRP or other current missile defense programs
- Experience working in Agile environments such as scrum scrum at scale SAFe and DevSecOps
- Potential to travel to CONUS or OCONUS customer sites (up to 50% 1-2 weeks per trip) for software build installation and support
- Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment with time-critical requirements
- Experience contributing to a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to complex technical problems
- Experience with tools such as Atlassian Suite (e.g. Bitbucket/Artifactory Confluence Crucible Fisheye Jira) Jenkins Eclipse and Ansible
- Experience working in a continuous integration/continuous development environment; experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Redhat and Linux Operating Systems

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.
This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS) an agency of the Department of Defense handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. More information about Security Clearances can be found on the US Department of State government website here: salary range for this role is 101000 USD - 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
